Audio Descriptive Commentary & ASD-friendly Commentary is an integral part of any Broadcaster and Sports Teams' commitment to making Live Sport accessible to all fans.

For the last 10 years Glen Robinson has worked as a Broadcaster, Commentator & Audio Descriptive Commentator in multiple sports & disciplines from the USA to Saudi Arabia and from Formula 1 to the UEFA Champions League, and now trains Sports teams and Broadcasters all over the UK on how they can run their own professional ADC teams.

Initially deputising as a commentator in 2015, in only 2 years Glen was employed by the worldwide leader in sports entertainment WWE and was responsible for producing and hiring not only the European WWE announce team, but producing shows and commentary teams in New York & New Jersey during Wrestlemania weekend.

In 2022 Glen was delighted to join hometown club, Premier League team Newcastle United, as part of their commentary team, primarily working in Audio Description, and after training from a third party company was deemed to have been unextensive enough, Glen reached out to local charities before working with UEFA directly, and The Geordie Voice Company, specialising in Audio Descriptive & ASD friendly commentary in multiple disciplines of Sports & Entertainment, and now provides the UK's leading service..

Whilst working with the Newcastle United Men’s team, training and support was then provided for Audio Descriptive commentary for the Women’s Team & Development teams, before working with teams outside of the region, eventually expanding into rugby, cricket and combat sports.

“I believe that Sport, and Entertainment should be for everyone. So many of us have the ability to help tell the stories that people want to hear, but not everyone realises their potential. That’s where Geordie Voice came in”

how does ADC training work?

Depending on the size of your team, ADC training for Live Sports is best done in-person and the initial session lasts approximately 4 hours (typically a morning or afternoon session) or in a few sessions over whatever video calling platform you use. All that is required for an in-person session is a quiet meeting room (or similar) and a TV with a USB drive.

Training can be catered to complete beginners, but those with a basic understanding of Audio Description OR live sports commentary already, is a bonus.

Practical assessment(s)

After the first session, a number of additional feedback sessions can be booked in as part of the consultation fee, to assess progression and any areas that need improvement. Glen also works closely with local charities to make sure that the commentary provided is always fit for purpose.

As part of the training, Autism Spectrum Disorder-friendly Commentary training will also be provided, but if you wish this to be covered more extensively, please let us know when booking a session.

Price is based on group size, so even if it's only an estimate, please disclose these details when enquiring about a session. All of the equipment needed to fulfil Live ADC commentary both in-arena/stadium, and for broadcast will be covered in the sessions and support will always be offered for any technical questions after the initial session.

"It isn't just training that's important, it's making sure that the support and commentary is always fit for purpose so that everyone can enjoy Live Sport"
